FILD: A Variation of the WILD technique

FILD stands for Finger Induced Lucid Dream and was created by  "Hargarts," a member of a couple lucid dreaming forums.  It is like WILD because you enter a dream from an awakened state.   This FILD method may also appeal to some because it seems to skip the sleep paralysis step, which can be scary for some aspiring lucid dreamers.

Here is how to do the FILD technique.

1.  Wake up a few hours into sleep when you will be very apt to falling back asleep quickly.  You must figure out the right window of time for you.  It may be best for some to wake up 3 hours after falling asleep, while for others 5 hours is better.

2. Relax until you feel like you're on the verge of falling asleep again.  The key is to be very tired.  At this point choose a hand and start alternating your index and middle fingers up and down as if you are lightly pressing two adjacent piano keys. The movement shouldn't be very exaggerated, in fact your fingers should barely be moving at all.

3.  Relax and focus on the movement of your fingers.  After it feels like 10-30 seconds has passed do the nose-pinch reality check.  If it fails, relax and repeat the process one more time.   If you fail the second time just go to sleep and try again later on in the night/morning.

If things work as expected, you will 'wake up' in a dream where you are still moving your fingers.
